Peter Garrett awarded the 2010 Jim Doherty Excellence Volunteerism award by the Maine Water Utilities Association

EGGI’s Vice President, Peter Garrett was recently awarded the 2010 Jim Doherty Excellence in Volunteerism award by the Maine Water Utilities Association in recognition of outstanding service to the Water Works Profession. Particular reference was given to his 30+ years of service to the field of hydrogeology in a wide variety of subject areas, including: groundwater contamination of all kinds; water supply exploration; wellhead protection; and artificial recharge.

The presentation was made at MWUA’s annual banquet by Dr. Andrews Tolman, deputy director of the Maine Drinking Water Program. Andy made mention of how Peter’s ideas were always challenging Program staff to look outside the box. He also appreciated the excellence and thoroughness of Peter’s report writing, his clear presentations to the public, and his long service to the Maine Water Utilities Association as a member of the Water Resource Committee.
